Is my Intermatic EI600 in-wall timer affected by a recall, and how do I identify an affected timer?
Safety Warning
Warning: Checking the date code on the side of an installed EI600 requires removing the timer from the wall and can expose line-voltage wiring. Disconnect power at the breaker and verify that power is off before removing the timer. Follow national and local electrical codes. Only qualified personnel should perform this work.
Recall Information
Select EI600 in-wall timers were recalled by Intermatic on July 1, 2009.
EI600 timers with date codes ending in B, 01C, 02C or 03C are affected by this recall.
How to Identify an Affected EI600
Start by opening the front door of your EI600 timer.
The following image points to the door you need to open to look for the date code.
Check the inside of the open door for a stamped date code. The following image shows an example of a date code stamped on the inside of the door.
If there is no date code stamped on the inside of the door, you'll need to check the side of the timer to determine the date code. If the date code ends in B, 01C, 02C or O3C, the EI600 timer is affected by the recall.
Checking the side of an installed timer requires removing the timer from the wall. Follow the safety warning above before removing the timer.
