Question / Problem

Will Intermatic In-Use Weatherproof Covers mount on IPEX-style electrical boxes?

Answer

No. IPEX weatherproof boxes are not designed for the same applications as Intermatic In-Use Weatherproof Covers. IPEX boxes use a proprietary form factor that does not share the same mounting hole pattern or dimensions as standard electrical boxes.

Intermatic weatherproof covers are designed to mount on all standard single-gang and double-gang junction boxes that accept power receptacle devices. This includes boxes rated for low-voltage applications through NEMA configurations up to 60 A receptacles. As long as the box follows the standard gang-box mounting pattern, an Intermatic cover will mount correctly.

Tips / Additional Notes

  • If you have an IPEX-style box already installed and want to use an Intermatic weatherproof cover, the box must be replaced with a standard single-gang or double-gang junction box that matches the cover size.
