Question / Problem
Freeze protection is not activating on my PE723P or PE733P when temperatures drop, or the freeze protection option or temperature readout is missing in the Intermatic Connect app. How do I troubleshoot this issue?
Safety Warning
Warning: Risk of fire or electric shock. Disconnect power at the circuit breaker and verify power is off before installing, inspecting or servicing the timer or freeze probe wiring. Follow national and local electrical codes. Only qualified personnel should perform electrical work.
Common Causes / Conditions
- The timer's firmware is out of date
- The freeze probe is damaged
- The freeze probe connection at the timer is loose, corroded or improperly wired
Step-by-Step Resolution
-
Update the Timer's Firmware
Open the Intermatic Connect app and perform a firmware update on your timer. After the update is complete, reopen the freeze protection settings and confirm the option is available.
-
Inspect the Freeze Probe
Disconnect power at the circuit breaker and verify power is off. Locate the freeze probe and inspect it for physical damage, exposed wiring or corrosion. Replace the probe if it is damaged.
-
Check the Freeze Probe Connection
With power disconnected and verified off, confirm the freeze probe wires are securely connected to the correct terminals inside the timer. Check for loose wires, corrosion or improper connections and correct them as needed.
-
Verify Operation
Restore power after all connections have been checked and the enclosure is secured. Open the Intermatic Connect app and confirm the temperature readout is displayed and freeze protection is enabled at the desired setpoint.
