Question / Problem
How do I replace the knob on my FF, FD, or SW Series Spring Wound Timer?
Safety Warning
Warning: If your hand or tools may contact wiring behind the wall plate, turn off power at the circuit breaker before servicing. Use a non-metallic tool if needed to avoid damaging the faceplate or timer. Do not attempt internal repairs beyond knob replacement.
Common Installation / Application Conditions
- Applies to FF, FD, and SW Series Spring Wound Timers (in-wall)
- Knob is damaged, missing, or worn
Step-by-Step Resolution
Remove the Existing Knob
Grip the knob and pull it straight outward from the timer shaft. A firm pull may be required to release the friction fit.
Align the New Knob
Position the replacement knob so its internal shape matches the orientation of the timer shaft.
Install the New Knob
Push the knob straight onto the shaft until it is fully seated and rotates smoothly.
Tips / Additional Notes
- A non-marring tool may help gently lift the old knob without damaging the faceplate.
- Ensure the timer shaft is clean and free of debris before installing the new knob.
- Avoid excessive force that could damage the timer mechanism.
